Key Verse:
"And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:"
— Acts 9:3; KJV
As many of us who desire to be pleasing to the LORD should pray this prayer sincerely, if possible, daily. That the LORD shines HIS convicting light on us.
When the light of CHRIST shines on us now, it is not to condemn nor to destroy us but to bring us into right standing with GOD.
The convicting light shining on us will make us humble and surrender to the LORD JESUS, fully trusting in HIS saving grace and power.
In Acts 9, Apostle Paul, then Saul, was so bold and aggressive in his approach to stop the saving message of The LORD JESUS. He tried to accomplish that by persecuting the Church.
He thought he was doing GOD a service as rightly said in John 16:2, "They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth GOD service."
Ignorantly, he was persecuting the LORD JESUS HIMSELF.
But when the convicting light of CHRIST shone on him on his way to Damascus, a complete godly transformation began in his life. He fell to the earth. He realised he was nothing before the LORD. All his self-righteousness and confidence left him. He was empty. He now needed the LORD JESUS as he said, "LORD, what wilt Thou have me to do?"—Acts 9:6;
The LORD in HIS Mercy, directed him in what to do to be pleasing to the LORD.
Many of us may be in a similar situation to Saul. Though, our situation may not be as severe as that of Saul, the fact is that our hearts may not be absolutely right with GOD as his case was.
Many of us may have some form of godliness but are still living in anger, bitterness, hypocrisy, pride, backbiting, covetousness, slandering, lukewarmness, hatred and so on.
Let us not be complacent, careless, or negligent and assume that all is well, whereas, perhaps, it is not so.
Let us pray and allow the convicting light of the LORD JESUS CHRIST to have HIS way in our lives.
Our lives shall be transformed by this wonderful and all-saving light of CHRIST.
May GOD be our Helper.
Amen🙏
